Richard Bennett - 'To The Ends Of The Earth'

On Wednesday 8th March Alba members were treated with a visit from photographer Richard Bennett with his presentation 'To The Ends Of The Earth'.

Richard is a retired media professional based in Scotland. He has 40 years experience of 35mm and Medium format photography stemming from the days of darkrooms and film and was recently voted the RSPB Scotland's Photographer Of The Year in 2014.

Richard took us on a fantastic photographic journey showing some stunning scenery and wildlife shots from the isle of Spitsbergen in the Arctic Ocean to South Georgia in the South Atlantic Ocean, also covering Norway, Finland, UK, Tanzania and South Africa in between. The ice sheets of Spitsbergen, polar bears, wolverine, otters, elephants, rhinos, lions and leopards were the focus of some of Richard's stunning shots on display.

His website, which also features images from his son Phil who now lives in Africa, is a delight to look at with some fabulous galleries of his travels around the world. Richard's website can be viewed here.

Alba would very much once again like to thank Richard for visiting their club and talking us through his very interesting photographic journey from the North to South of the globe; it was very much enjoyed and appreciated by all members!
